How Long Do You Have To Send Thank You Notes?
Your wedding has come and gone and now it’s time to conquer thank you notes. It’s a common myth that you have a year to send out thank you notes. So how long do you really have to send out your thank-you notes?
According to Emily Post, you should try to get your thank you notes in the mail three months after your wedding. This isn’t meant to stress you out, but being prompt is polite. The longer you wait to write them, the more likely it is that you will get too busy. Here are some tips to help you get through that big stack of thank you notes:
Prioritize your list. Start by sending your thank you notes to family members who are worried you never got their gift.
Teamwork makes the dream work. Include your spouse in the thank you note writing process. Have your husband or wife write half and you write the other half.
Keep it short and sweet. You don’t have to write a novel for each person. Instead, keep it to a few sentences. Add a personal detail about your relationship with the person or about the gift and how you intend to use it. If the person was able to come to your wedding, you can include a memory from the night that stands out.
